Sweden, Brazil, Qatar and Germany have integrated sustainability principles into their national dietary guidelines. With the recently announced revision of Canada’s Food Guide, we have a strategic opportunity in Canada to do the same. Health Canada is undertaking an initial 45-day consultation with Canadians and stakeholders on Canada's Food Guide until December 8, 2016. Input received will be used to develop new dietary guidance tools that better meet the needs of different audiences.

If you are interested in participating in the consultation this webinar will be a great primer on sustainable diets that promote both human and environmental health. Panelists will explore themes including:

  • What are the different dimesnions of sustainability - environmental, economic, social?
  • How can these be translated into dietary guidance?
  • What are the key elements of Brazil and Qatar's dietary guidelines?
  • What can we learn from efforts in other countries to include sustainability principles that failed?
  • How can nutrition experts, climate and sustainable agriculture advocates dialogue and work together on this issue?

Join us to hear from our exciting panelists and bring your questions for them!

The registration form is now closed. However, last minute registration might be possible. Please get in touch with intern@foodsecurecanada.org if you would like to register.
