About Membership

Members of Food Secure Canada are eligible to:

• Vote for the Steering Committee and help decide the future direction and policies of the FSC.
• Participate in projects and receive support from the FSC secretariat.
• Participate in training and capacity building activities organized by FSC are open to members, and on the FSC's website
• Educate the general public and promote their campaigns and research interests on the FSC website (organizational members only)
• Receive a monthly members-only ebulletin
• Receive substantial discounts on our biennial assembly and other events

FSC admits organizational, individual, and associate members (see below). Memberships run from November 1 to October 31 of the following year.

Membership fees are the main source of revenue for the organization; however, nobody desiring membership will be refused due to inability to pay the fee.

Organizational Members (with appointed representative)

• Non-governmental organizations wholly or partly involved in food security work or research on a not-for-profit basis.
• Community roundtables that are attached to government for administrative purposes may be organizational members.

An organizational member identifies an individual who participates in FSC and carries the organization's vote. The representative is given member privileges on this website.

ANNUAL FEES:

• Budget over $100,000: $500/year: pay now online or pay by cheque
• Budget under $100,000 with permanent staff: $100/year: pay now online or pay by cheque
• Budget under $100,000 with no permanent staff: $50/year: pay nowonline or pay by cheque

If the fee is a barrier to your membership, please contact us to negotiate your membership fee level

Individual Members

• People with an interest in food security who are not representing an organization.
• Individual members can

Associate Members

• Organizations or individuals that work in fields unrelated to food security
• Government departments
•  Profit-making bodies

Associate members do not have voting privileges and cannot be steering committee members. However, associate members have all other member privileges
